Hey fellow adventurers, I know its been awhile and believe you me I have wanted to tell all of you about the incredible times we've been having, the new ideas we've been incorporating etc etc...but the demands of senior year of college have rendered me unable to post in quite sometime. I m not saying that I ve necessarily been doing homework or studying this entire time, im just saying that academia had devoured my soul and made me incapable of finding my muse, which has pleasantly made an appearance now. Anyway, I guess i should begin by saying that Ocracoke Fall Break '09 was a great success. For those of you who don't know a majority of our core group along with some new comers made a trip to Ocracoke in the Outer Banks for fall break over Columbus Day weekend (for those of you not a fan of a certain genoese merchant that would be el Dia de la raza). Early Sunday morning Oct 11th (probably about 1130), we decided to load up the cars with an inordinate amount of supplies, including things like cornhole, a volleyball net, and a ghetto blaster ( I am 100% sure most of the things we took went unused). Anyway this resulted in the fact that we didnt have enough room in the vehicles, so we had to take my car, the scion XB which i must say is the adventure workhorse ( once carried 10 people to a bowling alley). After our first debacle of packing we came to the second, of liquor store availability. Apparently on Sunday, liquor stores in the Commonwealth of Virginia do not open until 1 o'clock but in North Carolina they close at noon...WTF. Anyway, crisis was averted, we actually had more than enough liquor already which seems to be a growing trend for us. After that things seemed like they would be smooth sailing all the way to sunny North Carolina, that is until we realized the value of good caravan communication. Our fearless leader, Scott "the stickiest of the icky" Zickefoose likes to cut off the road without informing his followers, this resulted in several near accidents, probably some road rage, and a guy with a stroller in the middle of the road...dont ask. This all culminated in our arrival at the ferry to take us to ocracoke island. Not without its own drama, the third car in our caravan had to do 80 in a 25 to make it to the ferry that wasnt going to leave for another half hour......its the driver, only to be referred to as schatzi works excellent under pressure, especially while listening to jock jams. I digress....While on the ferry we committed perhaps one of the greatest heists of all time and added a new totem to adventurer mythology...i feel as though i should let aaron tell that tale...there will be more to come on fall break shortly...until then ...Be Real.
